TAAA’s 2024 AISIG Astrophotography Contest

The TAAA invites you to enter its 2024 AISIG astrophotography contest.  All TAAA members are eligible, and we hope you will participate. 

You may enter one image in each of our three categories: Solar System, Deep Sky, and Nightscapes.  We will showcase each category’s best images in a future issue of the Desert Skies Bulletin, and the winner in each category will receive a $100 Starizona gift certificate, generously donated by Starizona.

Rules

  • Categories
    • Solar System (sun, moon, planets, comets, etc.)
    • Deep Sky (galaxies, nebulae, star clusters, etc.),
    • Nightscapes (Landscape with Milky Way, star trails, etc.)
  • You may enter one image in each category.
  • Prizes:
    • Winning images in each category (1st, 2nd, and 3rd places) will be published in the Desert Sky Bulletin
    • First place in each category wins a $100 Starizona gift certificate, generously donated by Starizona!
  • Requirements:
    • The contest is open to all members of TAAA, whether or not AISIG members
    • You must have collected your own image data using your own equipment–images based on professional, purchased or subscription data are ineligible.
    • All data must have been collected since September 1, 2023
    • Each submission must include:
      • Your name and email address
      • Category for your entry
      • Camera/telescope/filters used
      • Data collection dates (may be approximate) and total integration time
      • Brief description of your image and why you chose to submit it (50 words or less)
  • Judging:
    • Judges will be TAAA leaders with varying levels of imaging experience.  All images will be judged anonymously, according to these criteria:
      • Composition
      • Creativity
      • Technical Qualities
      • Compliance with Entry Requirements
  • Submissions:
    • Submit your unwatermarked image (25 Mb or less, prefer PNG or JPG) or send a URL (Astrobin, etc.) to a downloadable copy, along with the information required above, to Jeff Rothstein, rothstein.j.s@gmail.com.
  • Deadline:
    • 11:59 pm MST, December 15, 2024
