The Radio Astronomy Special Interest Group (RASig) was established to explore and promote interest in the science of Radio Astronomy among TAAA members.
Radio Astronomy Special Interest Group (RASIG)
Purpose:
- Explore the history of radio astronomy, its development and discoveries.
- Assist members in pursuing Radio Astronomy observing through discussion and development of skills and equipment.
- Assist members in building a small personal radio telescope.
- Pursue and complete Astronomical League radio astronomy awards.
- Expand radio astronomy observing through outreach events.
Astronomical League Projects
The Astronomical League offers several observing programs for radio astronomers. These programs explore several aspects of the hobby and provide ideas for do-it-yourself projects.
Sample Projects
- Map Milky Way intensities and structures
- Observe radio signals from Jupiter
- Observe meteors through radio
- Measure solar fluctuations – flares, CMEs
