Many of our TAAA members are very active in the Astronomy community. They contribute their talents to instructing others in science, observatory design and construction, public outreach and ever so often have fun putting their equipment to use capturing photons from across the universe. Some of their work appears on websites in cyberspace. Here is a sampling of that work:
Cassiopeia Observatory
Located in Oracle, Arizona, Mike Weasner’s web site highlights reports from his observatory as well as product reviews. Mike is well-known as “Mr. ETX” for his days running “Weasner’s Mighty ETX Site” (1996-2013). Mike is a Meade Brand Ambassador.
Darker View
Website of Andrew Cooper, amateur telescope maker and astrophotographer, now located in Hawaii. Site offers resources on observing database, information on astrophotography, telescope making and more.
Grasslands Observatory
A local private observatory run by Tim Hunter. (Also the website of Three Towers Observatory.) The site features astrophotography, as well as a variety of helpful observing resources
Winer Observatory
The Irvin Marvin Winer Memorial Mobile Observatory, Inc. (Winer Observatory) was incorporated in 1983 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity to perform basic research in astronomy, provide educational outreach programs, and provide site and maintenance services for small telescopes through cooperative agreements with other astronomical institutions, operated by the Truebloods.

Private website of Michael and Mary Turner features astrophotography, clear sky clocks, light box construction resources, and more.
Xanadu Observatory
Backyard observatory site run by Keith Schlottman features astrophotography, spectroscopy, observing projects, space news, Tucson area weather resources, solar conditions, and more.

Roy Tucker’s asteroid search facility is home to some very innovative equipment for this task, including his “three-shooter”.
CCD Imaging
Website of Dean Salman, a member and accomplished astrophotographer. The site features astrophotography images and resources for astrophotographers.
Victor Herrero Astronomy Page

Jim Loudon Observatory

Woodlands Observatory
The private observatory of TAAA member Alistair Symon. Alistair’s website includes tips and techniques for imaging, plus many of his images.
Chris Vedeler’s Astrophotography Gallery
In addition to offering astrophotography images and resources for astrophotographers, this site features construction images and information for the Vedeler Observatory, located near Oracle, north of Tucson.
International Dark Sky Assn (IDA)
IDA supports the ongoing effort to preserve dark skies and starry nights – founded by TAAA Members.
Sonoran Dark Skies
An astrophotography website by Larry Phillips, member. It features photos taken with both film and CCD. It describes equipment used and provides details about the object imaged and the exposure information.
